News: Tatuaje Monster Series to be Rereleased in Smaller Sizes

Earlier this morning on Smoke Inn’s Kiss My Ash Radio show, Pete Johnson of Tatuaje announced that he would be releasing the Monster Series in smaller vitolas. The popular Monster Series has previously been regulated to larger sizes, hence the Monster moniker. During the show, which will be available online later this week, Pete said that he is working on thinner RGs and shorter sizes.

Early reports indicate that it will be available in samplers. As of now, the only mention of a release date has been June.

Update (January 14, 2011):

The names for the cigars are:

  • Frank Jr.
  • Lil’ Drac
  • Baby Face
  • Wolfie
  • Mini Mum*
*Mini Mum is based off of The Mummy, the next Tatuaje Monster Series.
Tatuaje will release 5,000 sampler boxes of 10, which will include two of each size. Pete Johnson has said that the sizes are not finalized at the moment. Pete has decided to make 10,000 boxes of 10 cigars to help satisfy demand.
There is no update on The Little Boris, a project that Pete had previously indicated he would be doing for Corona Cigar Co.’s Jeff Borysiwicz.

Another reason to spend money. But a smaller vitola of the same blends, I really think will lend itself to a better cigar.

I'd like to see more cigars that are currently available only in larger RG's in a smaller format as well. The #4 size seems to be the perfect ratio of filler to wrapper.

Everybody considers the Boris to be part of the series except Pete, lol.

At any rate, I look forward to these "mini monsters." I'll get a box for sure ... more if the price is right and the sizes are nice!

Great, a whole new reason for people to bitch that the cigars don't taste like the or.

Pete remains THE marketing genius of the cigar industry.

Boris is part of what was going to be the Actor series. Boris was named after Boris Karloff the actor that played Frankenstein. I believe Pete Johnson decided to not continue on with the Actor series although I'm not 100% sure about that. Either way it often gets (incorrectly) lumped together with the Monster Series.

Why is Boris not considered as a "Monster" series? Never really understood/got a real anwser. Thanks.

@bMay Boris is part of the Actor's Series and has been the only one. Pete has discussed moving the Actor's Series, also known as the "out of Costume" to be a February release to coincide with the Academy Awards, but then said there wouldn't be one in 2011 after not having one in 2010. Oddly, the Tatuaje website list it under there, but Pete has said made the difference known on many occasions.
