I smoked my second robusto candela today. Honestly, it was a totally different cigar than the first one I tried. The draw was easy, the construction flawless. The ring came off with no damage to the wrapper and i was able to burn was even. The taste was decidedly candela and the ash was just over 1 3/4 inches before falling off on its own. However, once the ash fell the cigar became somewhat bitter and did not burn evenly. I do not think the cigar is worth the price and still believe the AF 858 candela is a much better bargain pricewise.

The problem with the 858 is the ring--it will definitely damage the wrapper if removed--and I have smoked hundreds of these cigars. In addition not all of the 858's give an even burn.

I believe the reviewer of this blog has recently smoke a larger La Flor candela and scored it an 83. I believe that is about right, however, I take exception to his comments about other candela's. None of them, and I have smoked all of them, is as good as the AF 858--taste wise and dollar wise. Again just my opinion.

Received 5 of these about a week ago and smoked one today. Perhaps it was just a bad cigar but this first one was very poor. The draw was some what hard, the burn was uneven and mid-way thru the cigar started to go out and frankly, lost any decent taste it had. It seems it stared to taste like grass.

Perhaps it's just me or an unusually bad cigar, but I will finish the other 4 and if no change will not comment further.

If you like candela cigars, I suggest you stick with the AF 858. I believe the old Being Plaza (1950-1960's) were the best tasting today they are bitter and lousy--unfortunately. Other candela's such as DonThomas, Corona and Graycliff are really lousy cigars--they have no taste, are bitter and are a waste of money--IMO.
