Yesterday, La Flor Dominicana informed retailers of a price increase that would affect all lines. The increase is 3 percent of MSRP, which is an average of about 8 cents cigar. This is the second price increase in a little over a year for LFD, who had a 2.5 percent price increase on January 1, 2011.

In an e-mail, La Flor Dominicana explained their reasons for the increase to retailers:

Due to rising operational costs and the additional costs of fighting our government against excessive taxation and smoking bans that can end our industry, we will be taking a small price increase.

La Flor joins Altadis USADavidoff, General Cigar Co.OlivaPerdomo and SAG Imports as companies that have raised price in 2012.
