Review: Liga Privada No. 9 (2006)

In July 2006, the Liga Privada No. 9 made its first public debut at Drew Estate’s RTDA booth. The story has been told numerous times, but just for kicks, here’s what Drew Estate President Steve Saka said about it back before it was commercially released: Liga Privada No. 9 is the product of a cigar [...]
Review: Oliva Connecticut Reserve F Lonsdale (Preproduction)

As we have said all week, While chatting with Ian Hummel and Bryan Scholle of Oliva/Studio Tobac fame at the IPCPR Show in Las Vegas earlier in the year, it came to light that Bryan, who rolls cigars at Studio Tobac events, rolls quite a few different combinations of blends for attendees of said events. As part of my research, I [...]
Review: Cain Daytona Maduro 646 (Preproduction)

Here we are at day four of the Oliva/Studio Tobac test blend week and I must say it’s been really fun trying out these cigars with the different wrappers; it really gives you insight on what really makes a certain blend work and possibly what could make it work better. Today we are looking at [...]
Review: Oliva Serie V Maduro Lancero (Preproduction)

As I said in my first review, while chatting with Ian Hummel and Bryan Scholle of Oliva/Studio Tobac fame at the IPCPR Show in Las Vegas earlier in the year, it came to light that Bryan (who rolls cigars at Studio Tobac events) rolls quite a few different combinations of blends for attendees of said events. Ian sent me a few [...]

While chatting with Ian Hummel and Bryan Scholle of Oliva/Studio Tobac fame at the IPCPR Show in Las Vegas earlier in the year, it came to light that Bryan (who rolls cigars at Studio Tobac events) rolls quite a few different combinations of blends for attendees of said events. Well, I thought that was pretty [...]
Review: Liga Privada T52 6 x 60 (Preproduction)

Today we will be taking a look at a brand spanking preproduction of a new line addition to the Liga Privada T52 line, the 6×60! In a cigar world where everyone is making extremely large sized cigars, it’s no surprise that we got a hold of this new Liga Privada, a 6 x 60 monster! [...]
Review: Liga Privada MF-13 (Preproduction)

(Editor’s Note: When Brooks reviewed this cigar, it was known as “MF-13″, which, as he notes at the end of the review, stands for what you think it would. MF-13 was always meant to be an internal name for a variety of purposes. Given the release of the JD4/MF-4 as the UF-4, one would assume [...]
Review: Liga Privada JD4 (Preproduction)

About 6 months ago, there were sightings and mentions of a new preproduction blend that the guys over at Drew Estate were handing out to specific people. Dubbed the “JD4″, it is a 6 x 52ish cigar that uses the same stalk-cut wrapper (and shares quite a bit of the same characteristics) as the much loved T52 blend.
