Press Release: Gurkha 125th Anniversary Shipping Now

November 19, 2012 (Fort Lauderdale, FL) — After much anticipation, the Gurkha 125th Anniversary Edition cigar is shipping to cigar stores nationwide! This special cigar is particularly significant as 2012 commemorates the 125th Anniversary of the Gurkha cigar, where it was this year back in 1887 at the height of the British rule that Nepalese soldiers first began to smoke and enjoy their own cigars from local tobacco, which they named: ‘Gurkhas’.

The 125th Anniversary is already an award winner, having received the company’s highest ever rating of 96 points by Cigar Journal and is the recent recipient of the prestigious Golden Label Award for the printing, design, innovation and technical execution of the 125th Anniversary cigar band.

The unique blend features an oily Brazilian Cubra wrapper, accompanied by an Ecuadorian, Habano binder and a complex combination of Nicaraguan, Brazilian and Dominican fillers. This intriguing medium bodied cigar encompasses a very smooth and complex taste profile, with flavorful notes of rich tobacco and subtle hints of sweet spice, vanilla and chestnut. The Gurkha 125th Anniversary is available in 20 count boxes featuring four vitolas: 5 x 52 Robusto, 6 x 54 Rothchild, 61/2 x 54 Torpedo and a 6 x 60 XO with an MSRP ranging from $8.39-$10.99. Each box is hand-carved using the finest mango wood and finished with exquisite brass fittings, specially designed by Gurkha Chairman Mr. K. Hansotia.

This cigar is actually being made by PDR...Shocking. Going to try it.

@Jon DiBartolomeo You make a good point. Even the worst from Abe Flores is better than the swill that Kaizad usually foists upon us. I may give it a try. Same with the cellar reserve. That one at least LOOKS interesting, and I've heard it's pretty ok.

This brand pumps out so many cigars under their label, I have no idea which one to try and which one might actually be worth smoking? Seriously... confused about this brand.

@B__ Pass on the brand dude. Much better stuff out there.

Just once I wish Ghurka would can all the fancy labels and boxes and just make a decent tasting, well constructed cigar. I'll give one a shot and will be the first to admit if I'm wrong.

@Capttrips Amen Cap. Put the money into the tobacco and stop giving us fancy shiny boxes with awful tasting cigars. That dude on their logo should slice his own neck for making these mediocre blends. Maybe he has no eyeballs because he poked them out to not see the crappy inventory of cigars that they sell. TRUTH!

@Capttrips Hear, hear. I very nearly spat out my beer when I read that the cigar had been 'much anticipated.'

I'm sure Hansotia's mother is quite excited for his son's latest batch of swill. Prove me wrong, Kaizad!

@AronL @Capttrips With a name like Kaizad the dude should have been a cheap sideshow magician instead of torturing the cigar industry with butt wiped cigar tasting contraptions. And he has the nerve to charge high prices for them too. Better brands to choose I say.

@cigartruth @Capttrips Actually, as a magician myself, I can tell you Kaizad is a TERRIBLE name for a magician.

Maybe he could be the world's weakest strongman.
